The world's laziest blogger & how to discover human rights

SO its been a month since I posted, and that is truly pathetic! BUT! my excuse is I've been busy wearing my web dev hat.... and I'm sticking to it! ;-) The first few weeks of term have been a flurry of activity for us @ the TLRU. I've been building resource CD-roms, developing course materials, and learning Flash 8... all losts of fun! At any rate, I'm sure to get my act together soonish and will post more often!

In the meantime, I'm pointing you to 'Info for Students: What are Human Rights and Why are they Important?' which is a piece of web design work I did for the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission waaaay back in Sept 2005. The site was launched by the Attorney General and others today, and I'm very excited to see it up online.

Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the launch today, but a quick check of the media release revealed a great quote from a student:
Jessica Bloom, a St Catherine’s of Waverley pupil and winner of the junior section in the 2005 Human Writes essay competition, spoke about the human rights abuses she witnessed first hand in South Africa. She concluded by saying: "Our young people, who will shape the future of our country and the world, desperately need human rights education. The education of today’s young people will give us a generation of informed adults. This is the best way to protect human rights, now and for the future, and there is nothing more worthy of protection."
Well said Jessica! And congrats to HREOC on getting the site launched!
