Keeping Track of the News on the WWW

Industrial Relations Protest Online

Yesterday I went to a rally in Wollongong to protest against the proposed changes to Industrial Relations laws in Australia. It was pretty amazing to be in a hall full of an estimated 8,500 - 9,000 people making a stand together. It was also pretty interesting to see the live hookup with protest events around Australia. Technology used to enhance the traditional protest model - very cool!

Anyway, when I got home I got online to check out what people were saying/reporting about all of this on the web. Check out the links below:
I found various opinions from all sorts of people with a quick search on Technorati - a great tool for searching blogs:
WikiNews provided some really interesting information too:
Sydney IndyMedia, Perth IndyMedia and Melbourne IndyMedia are hosting text, image, audio and video of the event:
There are lots of photos of the rallies held around the country on Flickr:
And of course, I was able to access information from more mainstream news sources:
The web provides everyone an opportunity to have their say and contribute to the ongoing debate about all sorts of topics important to our community through blogs, forums, wikis etc. It also allows us to keep informed via a broad range of online news sources and is an exciting alternative to mainstream media.
